Digital University/Library Presses, Part 4: Singapore E-Press
Launched in September 2004, the Singapore E-Press is part of National University of Singapore Publishing. It "aims to provide a platform for online, open-access publications from Singapore-based research teams."
Using Open Journal Systems for many of its publications, the Singapore E-Press publishes electronic journals, supplemental material to books, and reference material.
The current publications of the press are:
- The Heritage Journal, a peer-reviewed, open access journal of the National Heritage Board which "publishes research articles on the history, culture and the art practices of Asia, with an emphasis on material culture, cultural resource management and museum practice." The journal’s copyright notice states:
Copyright for articles published in this journal is retained by the authors, with first publication rights granted to the journal. By virtue of their appearance in this open access journal, articles are free to use, with proper attribution, in educational and other non-commercial settings.
- NUS Publishing: Documents Online: This is: "An online, open-access archive of papers and other material related to various books of interest." It initially includes Academic Publishing in Asean: Problems and Prospects and previously unpublished notes and references to The Defence and Fall of Singapore: 1940-1942.
- Southeast Asia in the Ming Shi-lu, a database that "comprises English-language translations of the references to Southeast Asia contained in the various reign accounts (shi-lu) of the successive emperors of the Chinese Ming dynasty."
