The Systems and Discovery Senior Analyst provides support for the Systemwide Integrated Library System (SILS) at UC Berkeley. Reporting to the Systems and Discovery Librarian, who is head of the Systems and Discovery Department within Library IT, provide Alma & Primo VE expertise to the Library. This position is responsible for applying skills as a seasoned, experienced data / information management professional to create, manage, and update general system administration configurations across all functional areas of Alma and Primo VE, including third party integrations with external systems, e.g., Aeon, UC Path, Student Information Systems (SIS), ILL systems, and more.

The Systems and Applications Development Librarian will play a key role in enhancing and supporting library management systems and applications, and optimizing integration and interoperability with third-party systems and applications in order to enable efficient workflows and quality services that meet the needs of the diverse user community. They provide the technical knowledge and programming expertise needed for the development, integration, support and security of a wide array of library systems, applications and services; develop custom library applications to create efficiencies of the back-end functions for Library staff; adapt new and existing web technology and tools to improve the patrons’ experience of the Library’s online services; analyze, design and implement library systems infrastructures and user interfaces that provide a seamless discovery and access of library resources and services; explore new technologies to identify opportunities for effective application and the potential integration with other university and library systems; provide enhanced reports and data transformations related to library systems and services using various data science libraries.

The primary role of this position will be to configure and maintain the library’s Springshare LibGuides-based website, Sierra catalog, EZproxy system, and other library-specific tools. In addition, the systems librarian will serve as a technical liaison with the library’s vendors and Mayo Clinic’s larger IT team to proactively manage the performance and security of the library’s systems. Other responsibilities include providing advanced troubleshooting assistance to library staff, training staff to effectively use library systems, and exploring new technologies and their application to the library’s mission. There will also be opportunities for involvement with building custom library tools for data and citation management and working with SAML authentication tools.
