The Director of Public Policy Initiatives advocates for the policy priorities of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and executes strategies to implement these priorities. The position monitors legislative trends and participates in ARL's outreach to the Executive Branch and the United States Congress. The Director works closely with the Associate Executive Director, Federal Relations and Information Policy, the ARL Executive Director, the ARL Board of Directors, relevant ARL committees, task forces and ARL members.
