The UX/UI/IxD Designer plays a critical role in the FOLIO [open source library services platform] "design-first" development process that puts the user experience ahead of the functional specification to ensure that requirements are well understood and ergonomic. The Designer meets with functional experts (SMEs) to gain understanding and insight for desired functionality and performance of software, to build rapport with the SMEs, and to provide guidance and understanding of design and architectural issues for the SMEs.
